Racing resumes at GBS August 1st!
After a month long hiatus, the JCAR Tommy's Motors Mini Trucks took to the track for Twin 30's on Saturday night.
The Brothers Pirie, Cole (10) and Tanner(12) would lead the charge and take a 1-2 finish in the first 30 lap event.
A strong run by Matt Thompson(72) finishing third was a highly contested affair with Dan Brown(88).
But it was the second 30 lap feature, that got the crowd and the pits talking.
In a race led from lap 1 to 29 by older brother Tanner, c it was evident that younger brother Cole, was stalking for the win but was unable to get a pass made, and was quickly running out of time.
As the field took the white flag, the brothers running 1st and 2nd, The younger brother and defending series champion knew it was time to pull the trigger. Coming out of turn two, hooked his truck to the left to get a run on the inside and the two brothers made contact. Both trucks got hooked together with Cole's truck climbing over the front of the other and nearly going over. The two were so far ahead of third-place Andrew Thompson(69), that they were able to regroup and slowly creep back up to speed to cross the finish line. Cole, was able to get there first and take the checkered flag for the evening sweep.
Post race interviews were interesting as both drivers thought differently of the situation. Andrew Thompson returning from nearly a 10 year hiatus rounded out the top 3.
The Auto Fusion Towing Legends race saw the first repeat winner of 2015. Jacob Sheridan, the inaugural winner of the July 4 Bash at the Beach was able to make it a back to back victory over veteran Brandon Thurlby and rookie Ray Jannise
